The Upper Peninsula

June 3, 2013
The Mackinaw bridge is a truly beautiful bridge.  Crossing is would have been even better if both lanes had been open.  It was a bit of a white knuckle ride on a single lane across grating with construction work on both sides.

The Upper Peninsula is so beautiful.  Our drives took us over rolling hills with towering trees on one side and Lake Michigan on the other.  We saw so many places we wanted to stop but pushed on .  We have promised ourselves to return to visit this area in the fall.

Lunch was at a rest stop at the side of a lake.  It was quite cool and the leftover fish chowder made a great lunch.  I do appreciate being able to use the microwave for a hot lunch.

Our stop tonight was at Gogebic Lake County Park.  It was $20 with 50 amp electric.  Our site was on the top of the hill overlooking the park and lake.    I keep reminding myself to enjoy these large campsites.  My mem
