Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping

We left Phil's on Friday and decided to head north and spend a few days in Mackinaw City until the threat of severe weather further west passed.    I booked three days at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping.   Our camp site was on Lake Huron and had a great view of the Mackinaw Bridge and Mackinaw Island.   This campground is on several hundred acres and has over 1000 RV sites, tent sites and cabins.  Less than 100 sites were filled when we arrived but the campers started pulling in Sunday after the storms passed.

I introduced Breland to pasties for lunch on Friday.   He chose the chicken pasty and even liked the taste of the rutabaga mixed in with the meat and potatoes.  We stopped at a fish store and picked up a large walleye filet and some smoked whitefish.  Breland grilled the walleye for fish tacos on Saturday.  Sunday was cold and windy and I cooked a smoked fish chowder.

The sunsets here are gorgeous.  Sunday's was spectacular.  I took a few photos but Breland stayed out in the cold wind for a long time, working on the perfect shot.

Tomorrow we will cross the bridge and begin heading west.
